Welcome to the grim darkness of the far future, to a galaxy of unending war, incredible heroism and bitter betrayal. In this time of turmoil and conflict, the ultimate fate of Mankind depends on you.

Warhammer 40,000 is a tabletop game for two or more players, where you command an army of Citadel miniatures representing the Imperium of Man or one of its many enemies. This unofficial fan-site provides you with all the rules, diagrams and examples you need to recreate and fight battles in this nightmarish future.

Getting Started

Step 1. The Rules

Open The Rules page and read all the sub-pages one after another. These pages contain all the information you need to play Warhammer 40,000. All codexes, supplements, expansions and dataslates are based on these rules.

Step 2. Choose your side

Then you need to choose the army you will lead into the battle. This is the most interesting but at the same time the most crucial stage of exploration of the game. While choosing the army you can be guided by the advice of friends, feedback from the Internet or personal preferences. Or you can open the corresponding faction’s codex and make informed choice based on the knowledge gained from The Rules.

Step 3. Size of a Game

How much time are you willing to spend on the game? Hour? Half a day? Weekend? The duration of the party depends on the army size measured in points:
Game TypeSize of an ArmyEstimated Time
Kill Team200 points max.near 1 hour
Standard game (The Rules)750-2500 pointsfew hours
Apocalypse2500 points and morefew days

Step 4. Build a Roster

When the Faction and the size of the army are designated it is time to draw up the roster. The best way to do this is to get use of the HQ-builder. This is a third-party project but it is closely related to the Wahapedia via hyperlinks (registration is required).

Step 5. Choose the Mission

You need to decide where to arrange an enemy ambush: in a dense forest, hilly terrain or in a dilapidated city. The Rules imply a classic Eternal War missions and the missions with dynamically changing tactical tasks: Maelstrom of War. If this is not enough go to the home page of your faction and see a list of Missions and Related Missions available. You can even fight 4-player deathmatch using Carnage mission!

Now, when you picked a mission, you can start the battle!

Next Step. If you want more

After hundreds of battles carried out and even before you can feel the lack of Warhammer. To fill this void you can try out different expansions published by Games Workshop. Try to play the Planetary Onslaught campaign or arrange a dogfight using Death from the Skies.

Good luck on the battlefield and let the war never end!
